Resolved Question: What can an employee do, if their employer didn't officially terminate them after passing in two weeks notice?

After his workplace was taken under new management and his hours cutdown, my friend opted to pass in his two weeks notice just recently. He asked to leave before the two weeks but they never gave him a concrete answer. All they did was take the keys away and tell him they would call if he were needed at work. He called yesterday and they wouldn't even pick up his call. He's not sure of what to do,doesn't know if he's suppose to show up for work for the next two weeks or not since they didn't actually give him a reply, and he's worried they might not pay him.
